Kaju-based "Goemchi" feni became one of my favorite drinks after a recent stint in Anjuna. It's a drink that's synonymous with the revelry of the beaches of Goa, but is remarkably hard to find in the States. Indian Table offers some Americanized North Indian dishes, but primarily considers itself as a Goan restaurant and offers a range of feni based cocktails, as well as a number of other Goan classics. Mushrooms are seldom found in South Asian cooking, but perhaps due to historical reasons frequently appear in Goa. I quite enjoyed the classic mushroom xacuti, which had a very rich coriander flavor.
I made a reservation for Indian Table during Restaurant Week. They had a prix fixed dinner for $45. Being vegan, the only entree was pumpkin squash which I didn't like, so I went to the regular menu. I had delicious spinach soup and wonderfully spicy okra/cauliflower curry. My other dinner guests did the special menu with the pork belly and fish. The spice level was too much for one but the others enjoyed their dinner. We ordered a nice Cabernet to accompany our food. The apple spice dessert finished the prix fixed menu. The difference from other Indian cuisines was a Portuguese,Goa, influence. A little more expensive than we're used to.
Wow, recently went to Indian Table for dinner and I was blown away by how delicious the food was! Our dishes were very flavorful, fulfilling, and perfectly hot (fresh off the stove!) when delivered to our table. The service was also wonderful and efficient. We opted for the outdoor seating area which was perfect as the evening was beginning to cool down -- we were originally seated at a table that had ants and they were able to move us without any issues. The restaurant offer Indian dishes with a mix of Goa, which I have yet to come across that kind of mix in Brooklyn. We ordered the shrimp briyani, chicken tikka, and one of their soups that I actually forgot the name of. Everything was chef's kiss!! I highly recommend and will certainly be returning.
This was an enjoyable dinner. Every dish was full of flavor. Service was a bit slow at first. It did seem as though there were some repeat patrons that got additional time and focus despite coming in after. However when the server did come over, they answered all questions and were extremely helpful in their advice. Everything was delicious and plentiful.
It was nice to see more restaurants serving regional Indian cuisine. We ordered the Portuguese Chamuca for apps, Kalchi Kodi and Remo's "Aad Maas Amsol" for entree. The food was amazing! The jaggery do-dol dessert was spot on! The feni based cocktails were also pretty good!
absolutely blown away with this place!! the food is hands down SO SO SO GOOD. we ordered the jackfruit briyani, lamb briyani, butter chicken, and i forget but 3 other dishes that was recommended by the server. all so good. i know jackfruit briyani sounds a bit offputting but trust me, it's worth a try! key takeaway was most of the dishes were spicy. love that the menu is also vegetarian friendly.
Absolutely love this place!! Such incredible food! The butter chicken is incredible, and I absolutely love the Aloo Tiki side as well! The service is so nice, quick, and responsive. And it's an absolutely beautiful restaurant. I can't wait to make use of the outside area in the back during the summer.
Personally don't eat Indian Food too often so I usually order the same stuff. Went with my go-to Butter Chicken and an order of Lamb with a Garlic Naan side. This was quite possibly the best combination ever. Garlic Naan had a great crisp, Butter Chicken was creamy and had great flavor, and the Lamb was the star of the show. It was very tender and juicy, perfectly cooked. To top everything off, the service was really nice. Felt very welcome by each employee and they always made sure we had a clean table. Highly recommend this restaurant!
